Getting it done themselves

When the states want to do something and they need the federal government approval most of the time they will wait for it. This does not seem to be the case with online gambling. Many of the American states are going ahead with passing laws and tax structures without the blessing of congress. Whether this can actually happen or not still remains to be seen.

The states have the right mindset in that online gambling will bring in a lot of additional funds. But are they going to use the right games? Sure online poker will bring in a lot of extra revenue but then so will slot games. In fact, slot games make up the majority of profits to any casino. Let’s hope the officials don’t ignore that fact.

It is not going to be easy no matter how you look at it. Some special interest groups are so dead set against any type of online gaming that it seems that the hands of congress may be tied again. These are the groups that feel that people cannot make up their own minds and should never have to claim any responsibility for their own actions.

They do not believe that if someone gets addicted to gambling that the responsibility lies completely with the player. They feel that it is the fault of someone else, such as the casino or the laws that have been passed or have failed to pass. Unfortunately, there will always be those people in the world who want to control everything that people do. Luckily, they don’t win in the end because God gave us free will.

Trusting slot players and those who play any casino game to do the right thing for themselves and their families is the only way to go. When people tell others that they cannot do something then human nature only makes them want to do it more, especially since it is themselves that they are hurting. Of course there will be those who should never gamble because of their addictive personality but there are measures in place to prevent them from playing as well.

This is probably why the states are taking things on themselves and not waiting on congress to get to these bills that they have been waiting on. There is also the issue of money. The amount of money that a state can bring in through online gaming is astronomical as long as the right games are offered. To only do the lottery online would be simply moving profits from one place to another. In order to bring in the additional funds then there needs to be additional games offered.
